On September 19 of this year, a roundtable discussion and official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding titled “Intercity Brotherhood Tourism: A Gastrodiplomacy Experience” was held in Tashkent.
The event brought together representatives of the following organizations:
• Committee on Interethnic Relations and Work with Overseas Compatriots of the Republic of Uzbekistan
• Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan
• Uzbekistan Chefs Association
• Friendship Societies
• Compatriots Society Foundation
• National Cultural Centers
The event was opened by the Chairman of the “Brother Cities Alliance.”
After that, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Sardor Mukhtarovich Niyazov, delivered a speech highlighting the priority tasks and directions for developing tourism—particularly gastronomic tourism—and strengthening cooperation on national and international levels.
Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chefs Association, Akbar Khamdamovich Umarov, spoke about the global promotion of national cuisine and gastronomic tourism, stressing their importance in revealing the cultural potential of cities. He emphasized that gastronomic tourism is the face of urban culture.
At the conclusion of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation was signed between the Brother Cities Alliance and the Uzbekistan Chefs Association. The document will serve as a legal basis for implementing future joint projects in the fields of gastrodiplomacy, intercity partnership, and cultural exchange.
